The Mascot Derby was a chaotic, energitic and fun race of 60 sub camp mascots and Costumes in a head to head race around the gruelling course designed by Ely SASU.

Most participants came dressed in Fancy Dress or carried around their group's Mascot for the Race.  The heats for Chile sub camp contained many contenders including Charlie, Adam and laurence, Elvis, Scooby Doo and those Pesky Kids, French Robots named "Cam" and "Jam" and a Clown named Jimbob Chairlegs from 1st Haddenham.

With all these crazy scouts in silly costumes John Wells from Ely on his first outing as commentator used his own unique style to try and keep track of the chaos as events on the track unfurled, with Mascot navigating the Hurdles and sharp bends.

The final saw the Front runners of the previous heat enduring a 4 lap race to the finish.  Bears fought, Pirates ran out of puff, and Laurence for Chlie sub camp came out in front and won.
