I joined scouting some 17 years ago as a committee member and parent helper, as many of you no doubt did, but soon realised what a benefit we were able to provide to the lives of all of the young people placed in our care and thus I soon took out my first warrant as ACSL. Now having progressed all the way through (ACSL, CSL, SL, GSL, and then ADC) to my present role of District Commissioner it is with great satisfaction that
I can look back and know that we are still able to provide the excitement, challenges and adventure to our young people as we were able to do when I first got involved.
I am a great believer that we as adults must also have fun, as well as our younger members, and that that is what makes a good Scout Leader in to a great one.
I look forward to meeting you all at CamJam and can assure you and your young people of a great adventure. |
